about

Moldig were formed in 2005 in Torino, Italy, as a duo (Giuditta Corgnati – vocals/bass and Enrico Bricco – guitars), later, in 2008, joined by Ronnie Pizzo on drums .
In June 2006 "The treachery", was chosen as song of the week at www.rock-Industries.com , and included in the German Gothic Magazine no. 54 Compilation ( distributed to retail shops all over Europe) together with artists such as The Sounds and other major label artists.
Moldig were also elected Best New Comers of the year 2007 for the newyorkish Magazine Drop Dead Magazine.
.... "A game", was a song featured on "Notes from the New Underground no.7" Compilation (www.post.punk.com ).
....."Mirror" was featured on the German "Smoke and Spotlights no2" compilation in 2007.
...."Horizon", was featured on " Stay in the Box ", a Matchbox Recordings (Oxford, UK) showcase album released worldwide and advertised worldwide on MTV2.
The first EP (Moldig, 2006, self-production) got good response from critics. Tracklist was: 1 The treachery 2 A game 3 Strangers 4 20 seconds
......Mick Mercer (The Mick 30) says : "…with hissyfit guitar and dust-free surfaces, they exude class, from the simple diamond-faceted vocal intrusions, as the memorable nature of their music when the suddenly cut back to the guitar still patrolling mindfully"
. ....Spookyradio (CH) says (in french.....)
The German Gothic Magazine no.54 said "The treachery" is filling the dancefloors at German parties!".

The album has received good response from critics as well as from the listeners. Here's a review on www.post-punk.com
Moldig (2007) "Despite having heard a mere handful of numbers by Italian post-punk band Moldig, I knew straightaway that they were something special. After several compilation appearances, including one on our very own Notes From the New Underground series, Moldig have just released their self-titled debut in November of this year, and what a stunning debut it is!
Though the band now consists of three members, Moldig officially began in 2005 as a collaborative effort between bassist/vocalist Giuditta Corgnati and guitarist Enrico Bricco. Their sound is direct- a steady, hard-hitting electric drums backing jagged ancillary guitars, steady bass rhythms, and the occasional synth line, topped off with the crème de la crème; female vocals that are far more deep, driving, and soulful than they are meandering and ethereal, immediately setting the band apart from the flock.
Meanwhile, the ten tracks that comprise Moldig's debut record are infectious and catchy, infused with healthy yet non-intrusive dancefloor flair. Standout gems on the record include 'Danger,' with cyclic guitar dustings laced over driving hooks, 'A Game,' a track ripe for the post-punk gala, and tension laced 'The Sense,' featuring some of the most powerful guitar and vocal work the band has to offer. Though the record was cut before drummer Daniele Pavignano would complete the lineup, Blacklist drummer Glenn Marayansky took to the skins from afar ..ed tracks, the remaining percussion on the record the result of precise programming.
Oftentimes, brevity is not only the soul of wit, but also the key to a fine record's success. Though Moldig's debut runs just shy of forty minutes, there's not a single ounce of fat to trim, and in fact, the record leaves adoring ears eager for more. We only pray the wait isn't too long, and that Moldig's refreshing and powerful sound continues to win over hearts both near and far. Mick Mercer says:
" It seems impossible, really it does. That Moldig is simply Giuditta Corgnati on vocals and bass with Enrico Bricco on everything else, seems so strange, unless he's a musical genius octopus? That would work, although it would limit live possibilities.
Kind of post-punk pop with awesome potential, Moldig are a duo (jopined by a drummer live) who don't sound remotely home-recorded or restrained, like many who are coming to terms with what being a duo entails. If someone told you this muscular, tuneful album was a well travelled band you'd believe it, because these are the songs The Cardigans never had the style to imagine, and they come at you from different areas of modern Indie noise but with melodic depth, which obviously aids accessibility, but there are regular tiny corruptions, so nothing is commercially bland.."
After the album was released, Moldig performed at the international festival Drop Dead Festival in Prague (nov 2007) as Best Newcomers of the year, and toured the UK (Dec 2007-Jan 2008), hitting London and the midlands; here some of the dates on the tour: The Tardebigge Venue (Redditch UK), The Holly Bush (Cradley Heath, UK), The Shakespeare's Head (Leicester, UK), The Old Nick's Tavern (Horncastle,UK), Hark 2 Towler (Bury, UK), The Windmill (Brixton, London, UK, headlining), Joogleberry Playhouse (Brighton, UK, headlining), The Hobbit (Southampton, UK ).
Here's a couple of live reviews (Joogleberry Playhouse Brighton UK 2/1/08)
"....Italian indie rock outfit Moldig are however a far better proposition. .... I get hints of Patti Smith, but a more direct, less arty take on what has made her a legend, The Smiths, particularly in the guitar work, U2, when the guitarist really lets rip and shows how virtuoso he can be and My Bloody Valentine in the sublime way the vocals are delivered…." Brad Middleton for RemoteGoat .
"the beguiling singer and bassists Giuditta's vocals brought to mind the low register of Echobelly's Sonya and the ethereal moments of the Cocteau Twins, while the bass heavy rock they produce brings to mind one of the bands influences 'the editors' amongst others…..I'd still have to say it's true that all the best bands have female base players" Jess McSchmesh for RemoteGoat .

Here's some live reviews:
Moldig, The Trash Bar, Brooklyn NY 08/18/08
"Ever since I caught wind of them in early 2007, Moldig has kept my firm attention. However, hailing from Italy (ahh, heritage), I figured the vast body of water between us would keep me from ever catching the band's live show. Defying my wildest dreams however, the three-piece band just recently embarked upon a brief US tour, and is gracing New York with not one, not two, but three performances this very week! Oh frabjous day! Last night's was the first of the lot, held at Williamsburg's tater-tot heaven, the Trash Bar. Even though its among my least favorite of the hip hangouts, I was more than happy to make the trek to see Moldig's first NYC appearance, and it was well worth it, through and through. The band took the stage at 11pm, and after a brief introduction, launched into a thick set of atmospheric post-punk tunes, most of which appear on their ten-track eponymous debut, released just last year. Even with three members on stage, the sound that emanated from their instruments was powerful and lush. Enrico Bricco's guitars cut through with razor sharp precision, laced with thick delay, while Giuditta Corgnati's even bass and soulful vocals were both impetuous and driving. Meanwhile, live drummer Ronnie Pizzo upgraded the band's drum-machine based sound with steady, pounding rhythms. Not that there were any gaps to be filled, but Enrico's tastefully used sampler further fleshed out Moldig's onslaught with a bit more of that luxurious aesthetic I adore....... Highlights of the set included 'Stranger,' 'Cloudless' (their latest single, complete with a video (www.myspace.com/moldig to see it ), and 'Wire,' which closed their set with epic confidence. During an early, unreleased number, Giuditta and Enrico switched their respective instruments, their distinctive styles adding subtle changes and delicious tension. This is always good fun"
Moldig, Home Sweet Home 8.20.08 , by Frankie Deserto
"As I had anticipated, Moldig's final NYC show was easily the best of the lot. Once again, Home Sweet Home was packed to the gills with devoted fans of the new cold wave, fog machines churning and drinks flowing without end.
The basement-esque venue was a much more appropriate haven for Moldig's brand of cold, jagged post-punk, and though it's far less conventional than the Trash Bar, it made for a much more atmospheric romp. Sometimes, a simple dimming of the lights makes all the difference, and this time around, the sound mix was spot on. Every nuance of the drums, vocals, guitars, and occasionally triggered samples came through crisply, and the bass throbbed so heavily, most in attendance couldn't help but dance as if their lives depended on it.The band played a near-identical setlist otherwise, but treated us to one encore tune upon our devoted demand. They also played much more powerfully and confidently than before, pushing their own limits and feeding off the crowd's energy. Less banter, but the music itself spoke for the band. Each song began quickly after the last came to a halt, demanding immediate attention, and we were all willing to give it. It's a shame that there's an entire ocean (and then some) between Moldig's hometown of Canavese and our very own NYC, as it may be some time before they grace us with their presence once more. I'm not a praying man, but I do hope they'll be back before we know it, as there's already a Moldig-shaped hole in my heart... "
